Our Story

1983
The Simac machine — where everything begins
Dario’s parents bring home a small domestic ice cream maker. In that kitchen, something true takes shape: milk, cream, eggs, fresh fruit, sugar. No additives. No shortcuts. Just the honest taste of things.

2004
January 24th — Opening in the snow
In Rome’s Tuscolano neighbourhood, Dario opens GREED alongside his mother. A rare snowfall accompanies the inauguration, as if to mark the beginning of something lasting. From day one, part of the AIC circuit: 100% gluten-free gelato.

2017
Gambero Rosso Award — Best Gastronomic Gelato in Italy
“Fior di Mare” — sheep’s ricotta, courgette flowers and anchovies — wins the Gambero Rosso Special Prize as the finest gastronomic gelato in the country.

2018
Identità Golose · Ambassador of the Bergamot
Speaker at Paolo Marchi’s international gastronomy congress in Milan. That same year, appointed Ambassador of the Bergamot of Reggio Calabria.

Our Signature — Gastronomic Gelato

Dario Rossi has transformed gelato into a culinary language. Flavours inspired by Italian cuisine, the produce of the Lazio countryside, and the seasonal biodiversity of the land.

01 — Fior di Mare
Sheep’s ricotta, courgette flowers and anchovies. GREED’s most celebrated creation.
Gambero Rosso Special Prize

02 — Cacio e Pepe
Pecorino Romano DOP, Sarawak black pepper. Roman tradition, frozen in a cup.

03 — Porchetta dei Castelli
A tribute to the Lazio hills. The flavour of traditional roast pork, reimagined.

04 — Panzanella Romana
Tomato, Itrana extra virgin olive oil, fresh basil. A Lazio summer in a gelato.

05 — Carbonara
Guanciale, Pecorino, egg yolk. Carbonara, reinterpreted through cold.

06 — 1° Maggio
Fresh broad beans and Pecorino Romano. A Roman springtime tradition, turned into flavour.

07 — Puntarelle e Alici
The Roman salad par excellence. Chicory shoots, Cantabrian anchovies.

08 — Pizza e Mortazza
A Roman street classic, reinterpreted as gastronomic gelato.

09 — Pollo alla Romana
Peppers, tomato, olives. A Sunday sauce from the Lazio kitchen, inside a gelato.
